Do You Wanna Drive?
03:19
|
|
||
Called a friend the other day
Was sad to hear he's not ok
Took him out for a drive
and watched him turn the radio dial and asked
Do you wanna drive
or watch it passing by?
Do you wanna die?
I know your answer, right?
I think you're wrong
'cause you can get through this
you aren't too far gone
you can keep your heart
you won't turn to metal
He says 'in this society, where we're taught to lose our empathy
we've internalized our oppression and let other's shape our self opinion"
Do you wanna drive,
or let the others try?
Do You wanna die?
'we're taught to doubt and disbelieve
disguise our vulnerabilites'
Well who can break this tragic chain?
And who can free us from this pain?
I want an answer!

Secondary Concerns
02:33
|
|

Take your time
Don't rush through just 'cause that's what they tell you to
As you like
Feel like you feel, and n'er for it apologize
It's your time, your life
Do what you like
Be who you are
The rest is secondary
Secondary concerns
Live your life
Don't waste your time on what everybody's though of you
Free your mind
Think as you think, and always to yourself be true
And there you are, there you are.

Let's Dance (in D Minor)
02:49
|
|
||
The earth is round
You can call it how
How you want
Though it won't thus so be
You talk loud and proud
You command the crowd
But flattery from tyranny's
Unsound
People sometimes get it wrong
They'll light a candle
And call it dawn
So let's dance
No one is made of truth
Though I believe you too
So if you humor me
I will humor you
People sometimes get it wrong
They'll like a candle
And call it dawn
People sometimes get you wrong
Their conclusions, it figures,
Are poorly drawn
So let's dance!
Let's Dance!

It's a miracle to be
It's a blessing and a curse
Whether you are at your best
or your worst
As it's all the same to me
Let's spare the sanctimony
I will tell a joke at your funeral
'Cause there's still laughter
When the leaves fall
You go on living
As the earth cools
And the fire's dying down
Time's a series of events
Everything in a sequence
All that's real is now
And just before it passes
If it's all the same to you
To the past, let's bid adieu
To the future, we'll see you when we see you
Where did the time go?
Is it buried?
Are you the dumb dog
Digging up time's bones?
Are the clock hands
Chasing their own tales around?
When your friend died
You felt lighter
Why's it weird to admit that
Aren't you a good boy
And did you use that
As an excuse for
Your other problems?
And that's ok too
But they were actually there before
And the fire's dying down
And the clock hand is chasing its own tale around
Around
Around
Around
Around...

Extras
02:14
|
|

Take a bus downtown
It's Friday night
Gonna see some friends
Gonna start a fight
You're gonna make a movie
Yeah, where you're the star
Do you need some extras?
I thought you'd never ask
Gonna take the train
Far away
Gonna see my friends
on Sunday
You're gonna make a movie
Yeah, where you're the star
Do you need some extras?
Gonna write a poem and it will win your heart
Gonna make a song and it will win your heart
Gonna write a book and it will win your heart

Hyasynths
01:09
|

"I am in love
With him to whom
A hyacinth
is dearer
than I shall ever be dear
On nights when the field mice
are abroad
He cannot sleep
He heard their narrow teeth
gnawing at the bulbs of his
hyacinths
But the gnawing at my heart
he does not hear"
I love him
He loves me not

We just keep on trying
Though we smile
Though we feel like crying
On & on
On & on"

"Don't stop to ask
Now you've found a break
To make it last
You've got to find a way
Say what you want to say
Breakout!"

Bowl of Dust
03:47
|
|
||
15 years later the old boat broker is still at his trade, but cannot retire
unfortunately, or for from higher powers, keeping him young
if young means still having a back to break
I know him well, in our course, we've walked side by side
I arrive at the decorated house to find him in a crowd
in festive huddle the time here ticks quietly
slow to tears, photographs, embraces
hours later I will meet my old dusty room
and disturb the fine grey powder, time thrown,
and sit on the creaking wicker chair
my dusty toothbrush next to the mirror
which can catch only the present
reflection, inevitably I will return time to
this house these reflections and shadows
and I will go to speak to my father
the eternal watchman
and one of these days I will sit down and eat my bowl of dust
like all the rest
I will sit down and eat my bowl of dust like all the rest

skiing Berlin, Germany
All beneath the moon will fade
The moon itself will move away
All that in this world that's
bought
Now or then returns to nought
